Check the Application Availability Status page for updates.
As availability changes constantly, program may become unavailable by the time applications are reviewed. Applications are accepted when the status shows "Apply Now", and qualified students may receive an offer, or a waitlist notification of seats are full or reserved.
Students applying early within the application periods have higher chance of getting an offer, however offers are not guaranteed.
Application fee is not refundable.
Applications are not accepted if the status shows “Application Closed”.
As a public institution, provincial government funding regulates VCC's programming, seat space and equipment allocation. Certain programs are given domestic student priority. If a VCC program is not listed on the International Program Listing page, it is not offered to international students.
Check the seat availability status page at www.vcc.ca/ieavailability and only apply if the status shows "Apply Now". To apply, email a complete application package to study@vcc.ca and wait for a decision.
For more details, refer to the How to Apply section on the website.
While most programs at VCC accept students on a first-qualified, first-offered basis, some programs select and admit students based on a competitive selection process. For more information, refer to the Competitive Selection section on the website.
If the application status shows "Apply Now", applications are accepted during the application periods.
If the application status shows "Application Closed", applications are not accepted.
Application periods may close earlier for applicants who do not already have a Study Permit, or for the competitive selection programs.
Qualified applicants may receive an offer letter if program seats are available.
If program seats are full or reserved, qualified applicants may receive a waitlist notification.
Students usually receive a notification within the application processing timeframe regarding their application status.
Upon acceptance into one of our programs, you will be provided an Offer of Admission which can be used to support your study permit application (with the tuition deposit payment receipt). For more information on how to apply for a study permit, please visit the IRCC website: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada.html. Please note that VCC cannot guarantee your study permit approval as this is determined by IRCC.
Even if all program seats are offered, seats may still become available due to non-acceptance/non-payments, student cancellations, or additional sessions added. Qualified applicants will be placed on waitlists and get notified when seats become available.
Until all offers are accepted, VCC will continue to accept applications on the waitlist. If program seats are all filled, VCC will only keep a few students on the waitlist and will close the program for applications.
Being on the waitlist does not guarantee an offer or a program seat. Application fee is non-refundable even if no seat opens up. Students are encouraged to apply to multiple intakes when applications are accepted.
Many factors influence how long a student may be on the waitlist, including program capacity, offer acceptance rate, study permit approval rates and student cancellation. Therefore, it's difficult to estimate how long a student may be on a waitlist.
There is no regular update available. Waitlisted students will only be contacted if an offer is available.
This information is not available. Waitlist status changes on a constant basis.
We cannot assume students are interested in future intakes. Students must inform VCC to confirm their applications to other intakes.
Waitlisted students are offered by the dates when admission requirements are met. However, closer to the program start dates, students with a valid study permit will have a higher chance of receiving a last-minute offer.
We encourage students to apply to future intakes when the application period is open, to increase the chance of receiving an offer.
Students may study at VCC's partner language schools, ILAC or ILSC, to meet VCC’s English requirements for the majority of VCC's programs. With the exception of competitive selection programs, pathway conditional admission may be available for ILAC or ILSC students. Review the Pathway Program Articulation List for details.
If students do not meet the English requirements, studying at ILAC or ILSC is the only option to get conditional admission. Alternatively, apply after obtaining sufficient IELTS scores.
Conditional admission for many VCC programs may be available for B.C. Grade 12 students based on transcript evaluation. To confirm admissibility, submit a complete application with interim transcripts and report cards for evaluation.
Application fees can be paid by many different methods. Check the payment section of the application form for details.
Students pay the tuition deposit to confirm their program seats, and will pay the remainder of the tuition and other fees to continue their programs. Tuition deposit amounts vary by programs.
Tuition and other fees are payable on a continuous basis based on the courses in your program and when those courses are scheduled. Information about future term payment amounts and due dates will be sent to students before they continue to the next term.
Fees information such as program tuition and other fees are published on the website. International students should expect to prepare sufficient funds for the entire programs before accepting offers.
Failure to pay tuition fees by the deadline may result in late fees or removal from your programs/courses. Letters and transcripts may not be issued if students have fees owing.
Tuition fees can be paid by many different methods. Check the Tuition and Payments section on the website for details.
As the provincial government funds domestic students’ education, the cost of tuition for domestic students is subsidized and therefore lower than that of international students.
Refer to the policy and procedures of VCC Policy D.3.7 (Tuition and Fees), for more information about eligibility for domestic fees.
Many VCC programs are designed to be accelerated programs, which means that a study program can be completed in less time than the normal length of the program. This should not impact the length of your PGWP as long as you maintain full-time academic status throughout your program. The VCC International Student Info Guide (page 3) will indicate the PGWP length you would be eligible for in each program.
An international student is someone who is not a Permanent Resident or a Canadian Citizen.
Breaks vary depending on programs, and some of VCC’s programs are continuous without a break. The exact dates of program breaks will be provided with class schedules before the start of each program. For other college closure dates, refer to the Important Dates page.
VCC offers two Bachelor Degree programs for international students: Bachelor of Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Applied Music.
These two-year Bachelor degree programs at VCC are Year 3 and 4 of a bachelor’s degree, and require applicants to graduate from VCC’s Diplomas (Hospitality Management Diploma and Music Diploma) or officially articulated programs and institutions.
The number of credits varies by program. Refer to individual program pages for details.
Many VCC programs have practicum, and some programs offer practical training on campus. Check individual program pages to find out if practicum is included. Practicum is usually not paid. Information about how to find employers will be provided by individual program areas.
Industry Training Authority (ITA) recognizes the education and training hours of some of VCC’s trades programs. More details about how to register for an ITA test will be provided by individual program areas when students are enrolled in the programs.
