This workshop is for VCC international students. Any VCC International Students is eligible to register.
IMPORTANT: Complete the zoom registration form to get the workshop link. Workshop Description: Canadian employers rely on your resume to decide who they want to interview for the job they need filled. You will need to create a custom resume for each job you apply for, and make sure you showcase how your skills match what the employer needs.
This workshop will cover:
- Resume styles & how to choose the best one for you and for the job
- Functional/combo resumes styles – which to choose and why
- Using AI for keywords
- Using skills assessment results to write action statements that match the job posting
- Templates/samples
Pre-requisite - Attend one of these workshops: Introduction to Canadian Job Search OR Preparing for Canadian Job Application Success (previously called Canadian Job Application Essentials) We recommend you also complete the VCC Resume & Cover Letter Moodle course before taking this workshop (not required). Log in to your Moodle account - search for Resume and Cover Letters.
Workshop etiquette and attendance: It is important that you keep your camera on when you attend this session, to encourage shared learning. You also need to actively participate in other ways such as offering comments and responding to questions in the chat or speaking up during discussions.
Tip to get the most from this workshop: The best way to learn career readiness skills in a workshop is to actively participate (ask questions, participate in discussions, etc..) Think of this workshop as an online work meeting – show up on time, demonstrate active listening, keep your camera on if possible, be professional, etc.. Plus – you might impress a classmate or instructor who can refer or recommend you to an employer who is hiring.
