What you need to know for VCC's annual earthquake drill
VCC will participate in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10:15 a.m.
- During the drill, audio announcements will be broadcast instructing anyone on campus to "drop, cover, and hold on."
- Upon completion of the earthquake drill, building alarms will be activated and VCC will practice a full campus evacuation (with physical distancing due to COVID-19).
Earthquake preparedness at home
More than 3,000 earthquakes occur in British Columbia each year. Most are too small to be felt, but the risk of one big enough to cause significant damage is very real. Participating in the Great ShakeOut is an effective way to better understand B.C.’s earthquake risk and how to prepare.
