On behalf of the Surrey, BC-based registered charity DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society, you are invited to the Black in BC event, February 1, 2024, at 3–7 pm, at the Surrey Arts Centre.
VCC Fashion is producing the fashion show at DiverseCity's Black in BC. Featuring VCC alumni designers House of Plethora, Rome X and Lana Argatoff, and local designers Kate & Frances and Oge Ajibe.
Launched in 2023, the empowering Black in BC event connects Black professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders and youth, along with individual and organizational allies to:
- Celebrate the achievements, cultures and contributions of Black Canadians
- Recognize and honour Black history in Canada
- Inspire dialogue, learning and support for Black achievement
- Advance equity and excellence for Black British Columbians including new immigrants and refugees
The free event will include hosted traditional African cuisine, musical performance by Rafikis Band, a drumming and dance performance, a panel discussion with local Black leaders, and our inaugural Black Brilliance Awards.
