3 Sisters Garden

Date Day Time Location Location
June 3, 2024 Monday 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Broadway campus Garden pavilion by VCC Library
VCC students and employees are invited to learn about the Indigenous Medicine Garden at the Broadway campus.

VCC’s Indigenous Education and Community Engagement team would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the upcoming annual 3 Sisters Garden planting ceremony to learn about VCC’s Indigenous Medicine Garden. Guests are not required to stay for the duration of the event but we would appreciate your presence and participation in the planting ceremony. Guests will have an opportunity plant one of the Three Sisters - corn, beans, or squash - in VCC Indigenous Garden, fostering a deeper connection with the lands of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

More than just a community garden, VCC’s Indigenous Medicine Garden celebrates land as pedagogy by incorporating Indigenous knowledge and ways of being. On-campus Elders and Indigenous knowledge holders will share their knowledge about plants with others. VCC’s Medicine Garden builds a greater sense of community and offers individuals an opportunity to connect to Mother Earth.
