Services for Students
Interpreting Services
Interpreting Services provides high quality, student-centered and individualized services through the use of Registered Sign Language Interpreters (RSLIs), Deaf Interpreters (DIs), and TypeWell Transcribers.
As one of the only colleges in British Columbia to have full-time RSLIs and TypeWell Transcribers on staff, VCC has developed a well-respected reputation for its commitment to communication and equal access.
VCC interpreters provide an effective linguistic match for students who are Deaf, hard of hearing or DeafBlind.
Interpreting Services Ethics
All RSLIs at VCC adhere to both the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada’s (AVLIC) and the Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters’ codes of ethics, the BC Human Rights code, and VCC policies as outlined in the department’s ethical decision making guidelines. This information is also available in American Sign Language (ASL) in the video below.
