Preparatory Music (MUSI 1061)

Preparatory Music (Summer) is an online course that improves skills in music theory and practical musicianship. Through written, aural, and vocal exercises, students develop fluency in reading and performing major, minor, pentatonic, and diatonic scales, rhythms, and melodies. Kodaly Solfege (relative-pitch, moveable-Do) and South Indian Solkattu (rhythm syllables) are the primary technical foundations. Preparatory Music (Summer) is for students who require review and practice of theory and musicianship skills for successful entry to the Music Diploma program. It is also available as a refresher course for domestic and international students with some musical background.
