Dental Radiography 1 (DENT 1505)
This foundational lecture/clinical course introduces students to the history and current application of radiation in dentistry. The components, operation and variables of dental x-ray machine are examined in tandem with the principles of radiation biology, safety and protection for patients and operators. Radiography prescription requirements, chart entries and quality assurance are discussed. Digital and conventional intra-oral radiographic technologies and imaging techniques are studied. In the clinical setting, using digital and conventional technology and various imaging techniques, competencies are met through simulated manikin (SIM) practice.
