Ken Cretney
Chair
Ken is the CEO & President of BC Pavco and Vancouver Convention Centre. He is an experienced hotelier, has worked as a senior manager in the tourism industry for over 15 years, and is an alum of VCC's Bachelor of Hospitality Management program. Ken strongly believes in giving back: he serves on VCC's Hospitality Management Program Advisory Committee as a mentor, and as a donor at both VCC and Selkirk College. Ken is also past chair of Tourism Vancouver.
Peter Van Dyke
Treasurer
Peter is Director of Investments with TCap Private Equity. He is a senior finance manager and investment professional with demonstrated expertise in investment management, treasury, banking, cash flow management, foreign exchange risk mitigation, and credit risk management. He also enjoys a diverse mix of investment vehicles whose combined returns gently meander upward in an uneventful, but cumulatively-powerful, accumulation of wealth.
Mark Andrew
Secretary
Mark is the Regional Manager for Columbia Hospitality, where he supports the operational growth of properties across Canada. Previously, Mark has worked at top-tier hotel and resort properties including Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Semiahmoo Resort, Golf & Spa, and Canyon Ranch Wellness Resorts. Mark also served as Senior Vice President, Tapestry, at Concert Properties, utilizing his background in hotel operations, marketing, sales, and transformational management. He has a proven track record for enhancing property performance, team member engagement, and customer satisfaction, and has been recognized with a President's Award by Meeting Professionals International.
Geoff Bowman
Geoff is a Lawyer at Owen Bird Law Corporation, where he focuses on resolving construction disputes, including contractual issues, and disputes relating to tendering and procurement. He is regularly sought out by both project owners and contractors regarding significant construction projects.
Zoran Kovacevic
Zoran first connected with Vancouver Community College as an international student studying Hospitality Management. He completed his diploma and went on to do his Executive MBA at Queen's University. Zoran is an entrepreneur in the digital space and has launched several companies, including a start-up called Ready designed to improve the restaurant/bar bill payment system.
Alister R. Mathieson
Alister spent many years as a senior VP of Global Business Development for the Thomas Cook Group. He joined Humber College in 2001 as Dean, School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism and in 2013 became VP of Advancement and External Affairs responsible for business development, fundraising, and global partnerships. Alister is a Social and Cultural Geographer and an internationally recognized author of academic books in tourism and several children's books on Canadian social studies subjects. Alister and his family recently moved to BC after immigrating to Ontario from New Zealand in 1984.
Barb Steele
Barb is an Associate Managing Partner with Canada Financial. She has years of experience as a successful entrepreneur, sales manager, and director with proven leadership competence. Barb is also committed to training improvement and incentivizing people through results-oriented strategies.
Kay Wong-Alafriz
Kay is the CFO & Head of User Acquisition, Data Science & Analytics, Legal and Asset Infrastructure at Kabam Games, a company leading in the development and publishing of large multi-player mobile games. Kay has more than 20 years of experience in processes management, quality control and compliance, and is passionate about championing a collaborative, operational approach for the finance function that leverages technology and data to drive decision making.
Joyce Yip, P. Eng., MBA, FCG, Acc. Dir., ACC, PMP
Joyce is the Managing Partner at Sylas Consulting Inc., where she guides technology management and business development in the clean tech sector. With over 25 years in the renewable energy sector, Joyce specializes in engineering, strategic marketing, and corporate strategy. Her previous role as Managing Director at FTXT (Canada) Energy Technology Co. Ltd. saw her lead significant growth in hydrogen fuel cell technology and oversee major facility developments. Her volunteer work includes serving as Board Chair at Small Business BC, and in community safety with the Block Watch Society.
