VCC’s Jennifer Gossen wins BCCIE Distinguished Leadership Award

VCC is proud to share that Jennifer Gossen, Director of International Education, has won the 2023 BCCIE International Education Distinguished Leadership Award.
The award recognizes the unique and important accomplishments and contributions of an international educator who has effected change and leadership in the field of international education in a senior leadership position who has `led from behind' and whose work will have a lasting impact.
Says Ajay Patel, VCC president & CEO, “This is a very well-deserved recognition of all Jennifer’s hard work and leadership. Jennifer was nominated by her own staff, which speaks volumes about her as leader at VCC and in the international education community. We are all very proud of the work Jennifer and her entire team in the International Education department do for VCC.”
In her role as Director of International Education, Jennifer has led the internationalization strategy of the college including increasing international programs, partners, enrolment, and student services. Supporting the international student journey is a focus of the international education team, and Jennifer says “We have such a strong team in international, and the work that we do supports the strategic priorities of the college and the goals of our students. It is a pleasure to lead such a high-functioning team.”
The 14th annual BCCIE International Education Awards recognize the professionalism, dedication, and efforts of an exemplary group of experts and practitioners in the field of international education in British Columbia. Winners represent a broad range of leaders from all parts of the sector and who represent the best and brightest in our province.
Winners in all categories were announced at the BCCIE Awards banquet on June 27.
