VCC named Outstanding Workplace at prestigious YWCA Women of Distinction Awards
Vancouver Community College (VCC) is thrilled to be honoured with the 2024 Women of Distinction Outstanding Workplace award at the prestigious YWCA Metro Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards ceremony held on Monday, May 13 at the Westin Bayshore in Downtown Vancouver.
The annual fundraising gala celebrated 106 nominees and 12 award recipients, which were presented by Scotiabank. VCC was among 14 workplaces nominated for the category, including Fairway Promotional Products, Parq Vancouver and Global BC. The Outstanding Workplace Award recognizes organizations that have implemented a unique workplace culture and supports the diverse needs of its employees.
“This achievement is a testament to VCC’s unwavering pursuit of equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracism, and environmental sustainability,” says VCC president and CEO Ajay Patel. “This prestigious honour reflects progress and togetherness as a college and community. I want to thank our VCC community whose collective efforts have made this possible. Let us celebrate this momentous occasion and renew our commitment to empowering one another to reach new heights.”
The Women of Distinction Awards is an opportunity to honour the extraordinary women leaders, gender-diverse people, and businesses who champion positive transformation within their communities.
This year’s fundraiser crucially focused on supporting the YWCA Slocan development, which aims to provide 70 new below-market and affordable homes to help single women, mothers and families in Vancouver.
