VCC Board Chair featured in labour oral history project

The BC Labour Heritage Centre (BCLHC) has an ongoing oral history project, collecting video interviews with union leaders and activists around the province.

Earlier this year, BCLHC sat down with VCC Board Chair, Joey Hartman, whose exciting career includes time with the Vancouver Municipal and Regional Employees Union, Hospital Employees' Union, Vancouver & District Labour Council, the SFU Labour Studies Program, and of course Vancouver Community College — just to name a few.

Throughout the interview, Joey emphasizes the importance of mentoring and supporting other women in the labor movement, as well as the need to recognize the value of all workers, regardless of their job title or status. She reflects on her decades of activism and the key role that the labor movement has played in her life.

Joey’s interview is available on the BC Labour Heritage Centre website, and will be archived for permanent preservation at Simon Fraser University.
