Top events happening in February
We're five weeks into the new year and there's plenty of things to do in February to stay connected with your peers, take a break in between classes, and be more involved in student life on campus and in the city. Check out this list of events, low-cost services and activities you can do with friends this month.
Black in BC
When: Thursday, Feb. 1 from 3 - 7 p.m.
Where: Surrey Arts Centre
Cost: Free
February is Black History Month. In celebration of Black excellence, this event will feature traditional African cuisine, a VCC sponsored fashion show featuring Black designers and VCC alumni, musical performance by Rafikis Band, a drumming and dance performance, a panel discussion with local Black leaders, and our inaugural Black Brilliance Awards.
Music Alumni Week
When: Begins Wednesday, Feb. 7 to Friday, Feb. 9
Where: Broadway Auditorium
Cost: By donation for the Feb. 7 fundraiser
Liven up your spirits with this series of music concerts performed by our talented VCC Music alumni. The event kicks off with a fundraising concert for the Greater Vancouver Foodbank. The evening promises a great show of energetic and uplifting jazz and popular music. Admission is by donation. Concerts held on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 are free to attend and open to the public. Lunar New Year
When: Monday, Feb. 12 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Where: Downtown campus
Cost: Free
Join us in ringing in the new lunar new year of the dragon with VCC International Education and the Student Union of VCC. There will be spring rolls prepared by the VCC Asian Culinary Arts students, red envelopes with candies, fortune cookies and a lion dance performance in the Downtown campus atrium. Valentine's Day
Where: VCC Salon and Spa (Downtown campus)
Cost: Varies by service

Pink Shirt Day
When: Wednesday, Feb. 28
Join us in wearing pink on this day to show your support in taking a stand against bullying. This day is a reminder to show kindness to others each and every day and to #LiftEachOtherUp.

Family Day – Monday, Feb. 19
Both the Broadway and Downtown campuses will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19 for the holiday.
Flourish, presented by RBC
When: Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
