SPUD supports VCC students with back-to-school food drive
This fall, customers of SPUD.ca will have the opportunity to help fill Vancouver Community College’s (VCC) Gathering Space Pantry.
A new initiative by VCC’s Indigenous Education and Community Engagement department, the Gathering Space Pantry provides healthy and accessible snacks and grocery items for Indigenous students who are impacted by food insecurity.
To support VCC’s Gathering Space Pantry, SPUD customers can add healthy and protein-rich food items such as oatmeal, soup, and protein bars to their cart at checkout, or simply donate to the program.
“We are excited to continue to partner with SPUD to provide support for our students. The Gathering Space Pantry offer students a friendly and barrier-free environment where they can help themselves to the cupboard without question,” says Reba Noel, VCC Associate Director, Student Recruitment and Learner Engagement.
How you can donate with SPUD
There are two ways SPUD customers can donate to support VCC’s Gathering Space Pantry:
- Donate with your SPUD order. Add select items to your SPUD order and the monetary value will be donated directly to VCC and other participating programs.
- Add select items to your SPUD bin. Add non-perishable food items to your SPUD bin from September 4 – 17. The food will be taken back to the SPUD warehouse with your bin pick up or next order and directly donated to VCC and other participating programs.
