In November, VCC was pleased to be the recipient of a $10,000 cheque from the Jean Ip Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to relieving poverty and providing financial assistance to individuals pursuing advanced education.
The Foundation was founded by Jean Sheung-Chi Ip, a Canadian entrepreneur, in 2018. Her vision for the Foundation was to help those who are in need, particularly those willing and able to continue their education.
Last spring, the Jean Ip Foundation partnered with VCC Foundation to develop a scholarship called the Jean Ip Kindness Award, given to a student that excels in their academic work, is committed to community involvement, and displays leadership capability.
Through this partnership, the Jean Ip Foundation increased their support of two student scholarships in 2022 to five in 2023, presenting a cheque for $10,000 to Kate Dickerson, VCC's Vice President, People Services, and Moira Gookstetter, Executive Director, VCC Foundation.
“We are so excited to expand our partnership with the Jean Ip Foundation,” says Moira. “The additional funding will ensure that we can recognize and support our highest achieving students."
Thank you to the Jean Ip Foundation for your support!
VCC offers hundreds of scholarships and awards which are presented at two ceremonies every year.
