Welcome to VCC
Vancouver Community College (VCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John B. Woudzia to the position of Vice President, Education and Student Services at VCC.
Dr. Woudzia will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of responsive educational programming and program innovation as well as the delivery of student services at VCC.
Reporting to the President, the VP, Education and Student Services works to engage and inspire faculty and staff in a collaborative manner while facilitating exceptional learning experiences for VCC students. Dr. Woudzia will also provide leadership on the implementation of VCC’s Education Plan. This first-of-its-kind plan for VCC emphasizes quality, relevant education and commits us to being a college where the highest educational standards are infused with current, real world knowledge and up-to-date technology.
Dr. Woudzia brings extensive educational experience to his new role at VCC. Most recently, he was the Superintendent of Schools for School District No. 40 (New Westminster). Previously, he has held a number of leadership positions within the K- 12 system, including Director of Instruction, District Principal, and Elementary Vice-Principal.
He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University, as well as a B.Ed. and a B.A. in English and Psychology from the University of British Columbia. His research has been published in the B.C. Educational Leadership Research eJournal, the Alberta Journal and Educational Research, and the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology.
In addition to his extensive academic credentials, Dr. Woudzia has served on a number of committees including the Child and Youth with Special Needs Task Force and Autism Spectrum Disorder Task Force. He also served as President of the B.C. Administrators of Special Education – a professional association of over 100 members in leadership positions in the field of special education across the province.
Dr. Woudzia will begin his new position at VCC on February 3, 2014.
