Compass card launches in July
VCC students get the Compass Card from June 17.
This July, all U-Pass BC students at Vancouver Community College will experience Compass Card – the reloadable fare card that works everywhere in Metro Vancouver. Students will say good-bye to the paper U-Pass BC passes and line-ups, and hello to a Compass Card.
Pick up your Compass Card starting June 17, 2015 from U-Pass BC dispensers.
As part of the Initial Release period for U-Pass BC, the $6 deposit on your Compass Card has been waived. Your Compass Card will look just like a regular Compass Card. When travelling with U-Pass BC, you still need to carry your student ID and be ready to present it to transit personnel if prompted.
- Once you get your card, visit upassbc.translink.ca and follow the easy steps to sign into your U-Pass BC account, link your Compass Card, and request your U-Pass BC.
- It can take up to 24 hours for your U-Pass BC to load onto your Compass Card, so make sure to request it before the end of the month.
- When your request has been processed, you will be able to use your card to tap in and tap out on transit.
Remember – your new Compass Card can be used for years to come so make sure you hold onto it.
By September, TransLink anticipates that all 130,000 students eligible for U-Pass BC will have received their Compass Cards.
JUNE U-PASS BC CARDS – Students must pick up their June U-Pass BC cards by June 8 from the dispensers as the machines will be off-line as we upgrade from June 9-16.
