2024 Spring concerts

Take a break from midterms and assignments and share the joy of live music with friends and family next week. VCC Music is pleased to present a line up of free concerts this spring you won’t want to miss out. All performances take place at VCC's Broadway campus auditorium at 7 p.m.

March 19

VCC Concert Choir, VCC Willan Choir and Indigenous Vocal Ensemble

Join the VCC Concert Choir, VCC Willan Choir and Indigenous Vocal Ensemble for evening of diverse choral music. Classical, contemporary, folk, world and indigenous repertoire make this a unique evening celebrating the joy of singing together.

March 20

Mount Pleasant Brass Ensemble

The Mount Pleasant Brass has been one of the array of performing groups in the VCC music department since 2006. This collection musicians playing trumpets, horns, euphoniums, trombones and tubas seeks to explore traditional and unexpected repertoire for a large brass ensemble. From Bach to the Beatles, there’s something for everyone at a concert by this group.

March 21

Jazz Repertory Ensemble, Gamelan Ensemble

The VCC Gamelan ensemble will perform lovely new compositions by several students written especially for gamelan. East meets West with a charming outcome in the concert.

March 22

Bigger Band, New Music Ensemble

Led by John Korsrud, the 10-piece Vancouver College Bigger Band presents an evening of exciting original music by members of the ensemble. Bigger Band is made up of members of VCC's School of Music and of Vancouver's next wave of young professional musicians. They will present music composed or arranged by ensemble members.

The VCC New Music Ensemble presents a selection of Diné composer Raven Chacon's graphic scores and other students materials. These sores and their notations are a way of making our imagination move, compelling us to generate sonic action, listening while gathering and negotiating different meanings of music around images and signs.
