Basic Drafting 1 (DRFT 1101)

This course introduces the student to the world of technical drafting, and the tools, terminology and media required to create working drawings of simple and more complex shapes. Students learn and apply the techniques for accurately drawing components, and fully representing them graphically on paper, either full size or at a larger or smaller scale. These skills are applied both to manual drafting and computer aided drafting, which the students begin to study early in the course. Mathematics exercises relating to the construction industry are also included in this course, through a series of math modules dealing with such topics as decimals, fractions, ratios, percentages, weights and measures.

This course is part of the full-time Drafting Technician - Architectural, Drafting Technician - Architectural-Civil/Structural, Drafting Technician - Steel Detailing Programs.
