COVID-19 FAQ: On-campus services

Vancouver Community College (VCC) is temporarily moving all in-person/face-to-face campus services for students and the public to online/phone-call-only options. See below for a full list of affected services and contact information.

VCC bookstores are temporarily suspending in-store sales. Supplies and texts can be purchased online and shipped. Digital textbooks are also available. Inquiries may be made by email or phone.

Until further notice, all student-run commercial services will be temporarily suspended. Below is the full list of affected service areas: 

VCC students have access to computer labs at both the Broadway and Downtown campuses. As campus access is restricted, please check our FAQs for details prior to visiting the computer labs.

VCC Continuing Studies is offering courses in a variety of program areas. Unless otherwise notified, classes will be offered online.  

VCC Continuing Studies has suspended face-to-face services until further notice. Program advising is available and will be offered over the phone or by email. Please also visit for further information and updates on COVID-19 and Continuing Studies.

One-on-one personal, career, and academic counselling is available to current students. Counsellors also provide career counselling to prospective students. Sessions will be offered by phone or Zoom.

Mental health and self-care resources 

During these times of uncertainty, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or anxious. Be gentle with yourself and have compassion for your process. Talking about what you are going through can be helpful and VCC counsellors are available online or by phone.

VCC Financial Aid is suspending face-to-face services until further notice. Please contact the Financial Aid office by either phone or email.

All VCC financial services including payroll, budget, accounts payable, general accounting, and procurement are open at the campus and remotely. 

All in-person appointments are temporarily suspended and on-campus Gathering Spaces will be unavailable until further notice. VCC’s Indigenous Education and Community Engagement department can be reached by email or phone.

VCC Interpreting Services is open and providing services to students via Zoom. On-campus services are also being provided as required.

Laundry services have been temporarily suspended. Service to internal departments will be provided as needed with five days advanced notice. 

Both Broadway and Downtown campuses are suspending face-to-face tutoring. Online tutoring is available. Please see the Learning Centre website for details.

Worksheets for students are also available for download.

Computer access is available at the Broadway campus in building B, computer lab 2213, and at the Downtown campus in the Learning Centre.

VCC Library's study spaces remain closed, but students and employees are able to order books and other materials online for pick-up.

Order print materials, course reserves, or AV equipment online for pick-up using the Library Takeout Service.

Materials pick-up only hours:

Monday to Thursday: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Online resources including e-books, streaming videos, guides to citation styles, etc. are available at Help with information, research, citations, and avoiding plagiarism is available by emailing or using the AskAway online chat.

AskAway hours: 

Monday to Thursday: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Print Services is operational with closed doors and reduced staffing. Please allow a one- to two-day turnaround time for basic print services, and two to four days for advanced print services. Inquiries can be made by email. 


The Registrar’s Office will be open for VCC Student ID cards only on the following days and times in May 2021. Your VCC Student ID card can be used at the VCC Library, as a student identification to access the U-Pass, and for discounts at various local businesses.

  • In order to access VCC buildings, you must show proof of VCC registration and government-issued ID.
  • Your VCC Student ID can be created at either campus, regardless of the location of your course or program.
  • If you already have a VCC Student ID card from a previous registration, it is still valid and a new one is not required. Replacement cards are $20.
