Introduction to Early Childhood Care and Education Studies (ECCE 1011)
This course is designed to prepare students for Early Childhood Education studies in British Columbia. The course will provide an introduction to the ECE Registry & BC Licensing regulations, a short summary of the cultural and historical context of ECCE in Canada, an overview of basic English terminology used in the ECCE studies and an orientation to the common instructional strategies implemented in the ECCE classroom.
1. Early Childhood Education programs in BC 2. History and cultural context of ECCE in Canada 3. The roles of the ECE Registry and the BC Childcare Licensing 4. Basic English terminology and professional language used in early years settings and the ECCE post-secondary programs 5. Effective interpersonal communication 6. Teaching strategies in the ECCE classrooms and the ways they can benefit to various learning styles.
