As part of her community service work, Dr. Shari Laliberte from VCC's Nursing (BScN) , School of Health Sciences and organizer with the Vancouver Health for All Network, is hosting a panel discussion, entitled, "Economics for all: How the health sector can address the social determinants of health through community economic development"
 
Monday, January 11
7 - 9 p.m.
 
Panelists include: Scott Clark, urban Indigenous advocate and founding member and the Executive Director of Aboriginal Life in Vancouver Enhancement (ALIVE) society and North West Indigenous Council; Alisha Masongsong, Community Economic Development Planner, City of Vancouver; and David Le Page, author of “Market Place Revolution from Concentrated Wealth to Community Capital.”
 
This panel discussion will explore the role of public institutions (health centres/hospitals, post-secondary educational institutions) as anchor institutions in local, decolonizing, inclusive and environmentally sustainable community economic development (CED) through social procurement/community benefit agreements/policies/practices.

Audience members will leave this panel discussion with resources to support them in adopting/implementing social procurement policies and practices within their institution and opportunities for advocating for needed municipal, provincial and federal resources to advance social procurement and community benefit agreements/policies/practices.
