Context and Purpose

To ensure that employees are aware of the assistance available to them and the recourse they may take if they are subjected to, or become aware of situations involving violence.

Scope and Limits

All VCC employees.

Principles


  1. Vancouver Community College is committed to a safe and violence free environment for everyone.  VCC will not tolerate violence or threatening behaviour against employees.

Definitions

Supervisor
Supervisor means a person who instructs, directs and controls employees in the performance of their duties and may include but is not limited to Directors, Department Heads and Deans.
Violence
Violence means the use or threat of physical force to cause injury, and includes any threatening statement or behaviour which gives an employee reasonable cause to believe that they are at risk of injury.
