Educational Leadership (ADED 3304)
The reputation of any educational institution or program ultimately rests on the quality and effectiveness of its individual departments. Each department is lead by an individual referred to variously as the department head, chairperson, coordinator or lead instructor. This role is the focus of Educational Leadership. The chairperson or department head must ensure that the essential work of the organization: teaching, student advising, curriculum development and service are carried out. This leadership role in combination with the quality of the work done by the instructors determines the success of that institution. This course examines theories and recent trends in leadership. It assists educators to improve their administrative skills and to develop their capacity to lead people and educational programs.
