Applied Music – Composition I (MUSC 1110)

This course is the first of a sequence that covers the necessary principles and skills required to become a professional composer/songwriter in a chosen genre.  Topics include advanced harmony and theory studies, arrangement, notation, melody writing, preparing lead sheets, how and where to pitch songs, writing for specific instruments, writing for film and TV, writing for unusual instrumentation, writing for MIDI instruments, writing with electroacoustic resources and production.
