Coming to a kitchen near you: gourmet dishes from VCC's top chefs

Do you love cooking shows? Are you always on the hunt for new, gourmet recipes to impress your family and friends?

Throughout 2012, chefs from Vancouver Community College’s culinary arts department will reveal their recipe-of-the-month during a special cooking segment on CTV News at Noon. The savoury, easy-to-follow recipes are created by VCC’s award-winning chefs and designed to help families celebrate the changing seasons or special occasions like Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, and summer barbecue time.

“Most of our dishes can be prepared by anyone, even the novice cook,” says JC Fellicella, VCC culinary arts department head and Junior Culinary Team Canada manager.

In the inaugural segment on Dec. 6, Chef Fellicella and Chef Tyson Gee, captain of Junior Culinary Team Canada, prepared a holiday-inspired dish featuring seared duck, sautéed vegetables in walnut butter and creamy bread pudding.

Be sure to watch CTV News at Noon in January when VCC’s best Asian culinary artists reveal their next taste-tantalizing recipe; the segment includes a shopping list, cooking instructions and plating methods.

VCC is home to Junior Culinary Team Canada, a group of talented young chefs preparing to compete in the Junior Culinary Olympics in Germany in October, 2012.
